December 3, 2014 Workshop

Manufacturing Trends & New California Economic Development Initiative

Presented by: Manex Consulting and the Solano EDC

As a source of innovation and wealth, California manufacturing remains critical to the state.  With 44,500 manufacturers, California derives 12.8% of its GDP from manufacturing. This seminar will highlight the many opportunities for job growth in Northern California and how manufacturers can position themselves to take advantage of the upturn in the economy.

GEDI--Governor's Economic Development Initiative--the incentives are expected to assist existing businesses and attract new business to California. The new incentives include: 1) a sales and use tax exemption for manufacturing and R&D; 2) a hiring tax credit for areas of high unemployment and poverty; and 3) a recruitment and retention assistance to attract new companies to California and expand existing companies, known as the California Competes Credit.
